RTU Department of Geomatics

We have three types of study programs: professional bachelor's studies, professional master's and academic master's studies.

Professional bachelor's studies include academic subjects - mathematics, physics, computer training, foreign language, and professional subjects as well as practice. In depth, you can study geomatics directions: geodesy, surveying, cartography, photogrammetry, management of real estate.

After completing a professional bachelor's degree in Geomatics with the qualification of an engineer in geodesy and cartography, studies can be continued in professional or academic master's studies. Master's professional studies mainly include professional subjects as well as manufacturing practice. Academic master's studies are conducted in cooperation with the Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU), the study language is English. There is no practice in academic study, but it includes topical and innovative subjects. Master studies can be started with an academic bachelor's degree. In this case, in order to obtain a professional master's degree, in addition must be acquired professional bachelor's subjects including manufacturing practice. After completing a professional master's degree in Geomatics, studies can be continued in doctoral study programs.

Professional bachelor's and professional master's study programs can be acquired in full-time and part-time form. Academic studies are available in full time (day) form and one of the semesters is expected to be held at VGTU (Lithuania).

The Department of Geomatics, which is the only department of such a profile in Latvian universities, has professional specialists. We have specialized geodetic audiences, an audience with the latest specialized software and available optical and electronic geodetic instruments. It is used not only in the study process in the Geomatics study program, but also in other study programs of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and the Faculty of Architecture.

Our students participate annually with reports at the RTU Students' Scientific and Technical Conference, as well as at the RTU International Scientific Conference, obtaining their first scientific publications there. We have a part in the international Socrates Erasmus exchange program, where students can supplement their knowledge at technical universities in Germany, Greece, Belgium, Cyprus. But foreign students supplement their knowledge and skills in ours department, where teaching process is organized in English.
